4TH THROUGH 8TH GRADERS REPORT BEING VICTIMS OF BULLYING

1 IN 7

STUDENTS K-12 ADMIT TO BEING A BULLY OR BEING A VICTIM TO BULLYING

"Bullying Statistics." Bully Facts & Statistics. N.p., n.d. Web. 02 Feb. 2015.

Our project started with a speech about bullies. Hannah Wright, an eigth grader at Truett Wilson Middle school inspired our class to see what we could do to create a better environment for everyone. Soon, several other classes wanted to be a part of the anti-bully project. A Bully Buster team of students was led by Sukhleen Atwal who did a sociological experiment to show how intolerance  was a problem with adults as well as young people. Nadia Cowan, created "Pillows for a Cause". Over 100 pillows were made from t-shirts and donated to a local children's shelter in Tarrant county.  Students created a school wide video and posted it on YouTube. The video is called I'm Good Project Change. Then we challenged students, teachers and parents to take our pledge. The students at Truett Wilson Middle School want to help make the world a better place. We believe change can happen one person at a time. By taking our pledge, you are making a personal commitment to be a better person. It starts with you. As Gandhi said," you must become the change you wish to see in the world". By changing ourselves we can change the world.

Now we are reaching out to you. We want you to join us in making the world better. All you have to do is take our pledge and apply it to your life. Treat others the way you want to be treated. By communicating effectively, keeping a positive attitude, having good character, making an effort to be a better person and by showing empathy to others, we will have a better and safer world for everyone.
